The Aircraft Technical Log (ATL) is an advanced, optional extension of the flight log for professional operators such as AOC holders. When activated for an aircraft, every flight can carry a full technical registration: fuel figures, outside air temperatures, engine times, mission type and a complete mass & balance calculation. The combined result can be exported as an official day sheet PDF that mirrors the classic paper "Operations & Technical Log" form.
Recreational operations are not affected: aircraft without the technical log active keep the exact same lean flight registration as before, both in the platform and in the Pilot App.
Activating the technical log
The technical log uses two activation levels:
- Organisation level -- the Technical Log module must be enabled for your organisation (contact Aerolync if the options below are not visible).
- Aircraft level -- open Fleet, select the aircraft, go to the Configuration tab and enable Technical Log (advanced).
When the aircraft-level switch is on, two additional parameters appear:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Max Take-Off Mass (kg) | The certified MTOM of the aircraft. Used for the take-off mass guard: whenever a registered actual take-off mass exceeds this value, it is highlighted in red on screen and on the day sheet, and pilots must explicitly confirm it in the Pilot App. |
| Dry Operating Mass (kg) | The standard DOM (basic empty mass plus crew and operational items). This value pre-fills the mass & balance section of every new registration and remains editable per flight. |
Operator details
Open Config → Settings → Technical Log to store the operator identity printed on the day sheet:
- Operator name
- Air Operator's Certificate (AOC)
- SPO authorisation
- EASA CAMO approval certificate
Registering technical data in the platform
On a technical-log aircraft, the Add Flightlog form (Fleet → aircraft → Flightlog tab) opens in a wide layout and adds three sections below the regular flight fields:
- Operations -- mission type (CAT / SPO / NCO), configuration (Std / RM / Vst), flight plan filed, customer (pre-filled with your organisation name) and operated by.
- Fuel & environment -- fuel on arrival, uplifted and at departure (litres), oil uplifted, OAT at take-off and landing, engine start and stop times.
- Mass & balance -- pilot, passenger and baggage mass add up automatically to the traffic load; traffic load, dry operating mass and fuel mass add up to the actual take-off mass. Both calculated fields update live while you type. If the result exceeds the configured MTOM, the field turns red with a warning.
Note
the dry operating mass is pre-filled from the aircraft configuration but can be adjusted per flight, for example when the crew composition changes.
Technical columns in the flight log
The Flightlog tab of a technical-log aircraft shows an additional Technical column group per flight: mission type, fuel at departure, take-off mass (red when above MTOM) and the defect status (NIL in green when the pilot confirmed no defects, or an amber count of reported defects).
Day sheet PDF
The left-hand navigation of the Flightlog tab contains Day sheet. Select a date and the platform generates a PDF that faithfully reproduces the classic paper technical log sheet:
- Header bands with the operator identity (AOC, SPO, CAMO), aircraft identity and next maintenance check.
- The flights of that day as columns in a fully bordered form grid, grouped in Operations, Mass & balance, Flight details, Times and Certification rows.
- A defects & maintenance register, a Certificate of Release to Service block, and the flight hours & cycles records.
The PDF intentionally keeps the rows that are completed by hand on paper (C of G, estimated landing weight, signatures) as empty boxed cells, so a printed sheet can serve as the official document.
Pilot App integration
Pilots on technical-log aircraft complete the technical registration as part of the normal departure and arrival flow. See Technical log in the Pilot App for the pilot-facing description, including the take-off mass confirmation, the NIL-defects confirmation and the captain's signature.
Counters and cycles
Technical-log aircraft typically track additional counters (airframe hours, engine cycles Ng/Nf, landings) next to the regular Hobbs. These are configured as extra clocks on the Clocks tab of the aircraft, each with its own measure type and next-maintenance threshold. The day sheet summarises Previous / Today / Total per counter.
