On aircraft where your organisation activated the Aircraft Technical Log, the departure and arrival flow in the Pilot App asks for a technical registration on top of the familiar flight details. On all other aircraft nothing changes.
At departure
After the counter (Hobbs) entry, a Tech Log card appears with three groups:
- Operations -- mission type (CAT / SPO / NCO), configuration, flight plan filed, customer (pre-filled with the organisation name) and operated by.
- Fuel & environment -- fuel on arrival, uplifted and at departure, oil uplifted, outside air temperature and engine start time.
- Mass & balance -- enter pilot, passenger and baggage mass; the app calculates the traffic load and, together with the dry operating mass (pre-filled from the aircraft configuration) and fuel mass, the actual take-off mass — live while you type.
Two confirmations are required before you can continue:
- Pre-flight check -- confirm that the daily / pre-flight inspection was carried out by checklist.
- Take-off mass -- if the calculated take-off mass exceeds the aircraft's maximum take-off mass, a red warning appears and you must explicitly acknowledge it. The app warns but does not block the registration; the exceedance stays visible to your organisation.
At arrival
The arrival flow adds the closing technical fields: outside air temperature at landing and the engine stop time. It also asks for the defect status:
- No defects observed -- confirm NIL. This is mandatory when no defect is reported.
- Defect to report -- switch on the defect toggle and describe it (with photos if useful), exactly like the regular defect flow. The NIL confirmation disappears automatically.
Captain's signature
On the overview step of the arrival, technical-log flights require the captain's signature. Sign in the signature box; the signature certifies that the aircraft loading conforms to the registration and that the pre-flight inspection was carried out. It is stored with the flight and appears in the technical records of the organisation.
