The Owners tab tracks which relations are linked to an aircraft. Each entry records the relation and the associated calendar context or scheduler group. This tab is useful for tracking aircraft ownership, shared ownership arrangements, operating responsibility, and the scheduling context for each linked party.
Opening the Owners tab
- Open Fleet from the main navigation.
- Click the aircraft you want to manage.
- Select the Owners tab.
What the list shows
Each row in the owners list displays:
- Relation -- the name of the linked relation (person or organization).
- Calendar context / Scheduler group -- the scheduling context associated with this relation's link to the aircraft.
The list gives you a quick overview of who is connected to this aircraft and in what capacity.
Adding an owner
- Open the Owners tab for the aircraft.
- Click the option to add a new owner.
- Select the relation you want to link to the aircraft.
- Assign the appropriate calendar context or scheduler group for this relation.
- Save the entry.
The relation now appears in the owners list and is formally linked to this aircraft record.
Editing an owner entry
- Open the Owners tab for the aircraft.
- Click the owner entry you want to modify.
- Update the relation or calendar context as needed.
- Save the changes.
Removing an owner
- Open the Owners tab for the aircraft.
- Click the owner entry you want to remove.
- Use the remove or delete action.
- Confirm the removal.
Remove owner links when a relation is no longer associated with the aircraft. Keeping obsolete entries creates confusion about who is currently responsible for or connected to the aircraft.
When this tab matters
The Owners tab is important in several scenarios:
Tracking aircraft ownership When an aircraft has one or more owners, linking them here provides a clear record of who holds ownership. This is especially useful for shared ownership arrangements where multiple relations have a stake in the same aircraft.
Recording operating responsibility For aircraft operated on behalf of another party, the Owners tab documents who the operating relationship is with.
Managing calendar context Each owner entry includes a calendar context or scheduler group. This can be relevant for how the aircraft appears and is managed in the scheduling system, especially when different owners have different scheduling arrangements.
Shared ownership setups When multiple relations share an aircraft, each can be listed with their own calendar context. This makes it clear who is involved and how scheduling is organized for each party.
Relationship to other tabs
The Owners tab does not directly control:
- Rental pricing -- rental pricing is managed on the Rental tab.
- Defect handling -- defects are managed on the Defects tab.
- Billing -- billing assignments are part of the Flight log.
However, the Owners tab contributes to keeping the aircraft record operationally complete. An aircraft with correctly linked owners and calendar contexts is easier to manage across all other Fleet functions.
Common tasks
Link a new owner to an aircraft Open the Owners tab, add a new entry, select the relation, assign the calendar context, and save.
Update the calendar context for an existing owner Open the owner entry, change the calendar context or scheduler group, and save.
Remove a relation that is no longer associated with the aircraft Open the owner entry and delete it.
Review who is linked to an aircraft Open the Owners tab and review the list. Verify that all listed relations are still actively associated with the aircraft.
Good practices
- Keep the owners list current. When ownership changes or a relation is no longer associated with the aircraft, update or remove the entry promptly.
- Use the correct calendar context for each owner. This ensures that scheduling works correctly for each party's booking and planning setup.
- For shared ownership arrangements, list every relevant relation. This provides a complete picture of who is involved with the aircraft.
- Review the Owners tab periodically, especially when organizational changes occur that might affect aircraft assignments or operating arrangements.
- Treat this tab as part of the complete aircraft setup. When adding a new aircraft, link the appropriate owners after completing the Configuration and Rental tabs.
