Aerodrome

The Aerodrome settings group contains local operational defaults for your organisation: landing fee behaviour, and the opening hours of your aerodrome. These settings are particularly important if your organisation operates as an aerodrome operator.

How to access Aerodrome settings

1. Open Settings from the main menu.
2. Select the Aerodrome group.

Fields

Landing fee amount

• What it does: Defines the monetary amount charged as a landing fee per applicable flight.
• Field type: Numeric input.
• How to change it: Enter the desired amount in the landing fee amount field and save.
• Operational impact: The value you enter here is the fee that will be applied to flights when landing fee logic is active. Changing this value affects all future applicable flights immediately. It does not retroactively change fees on flights that have already been logged.

Landing fee active

• What it does: Enables or disables the landing fee logic across the organisation.
• Field type: Toggle (on/off).
• How to change it: Switch the toggle to on to activate landing fees, or to off to deactivate them. Save your changes.
• Operational impact: When set to on, the landing fee amount is applied to all applicable flights. When set to off, no landing fees are charged regardless of the amount configured. Toggling this setting takes effect immediately.

Opening hours {#opening-hours}

The Opening hours editor describes when your aerodrome is open. The schedule powers the PPR module and the website widget: visiting pilots see the hours on the widget's Pilot Info tab, an ETA outside them triggers a warning (or a hard block, if you enable that per widget), and your team sees the same warning on incoming requests. The summary row in the settings shows today's opening window at a glance.

Manually opening or closing the aerodrome (runway status) always remains leading — the opening hours are informative.

Time zone

Select the aerodrome's time zone; all opening times are local aerodrome times. When left on the default, Central European Time (Europe/Brussels) is used. As a reference, today's sunrise and sunset times are shown next to the selector.

Seasons

The schedule is organised in seasons. Each season has:

• A name and an optional date range (dd/mm to dd/mm, repeating every year). A range may cross the year boundary — for example a winter season from 01/11 to 31/03. A season without dates is the year-round default; a dated season overrides it.
• A seven-day week grid. Per day you switch the aerodrome open or closed, and set the opening and closing time. Instead of a fixed clock time you can tick sunrise or sunset — the actual times are then calculated daily from your aerodrome's coordinates. Copy to all applies Monday's hours to the whole week.

The first time you open the editor a default season is created: open every day from sunrise to sunset.

Exceptions

Exceptions override the season schedule on specific dates — closed on a public holiday, or special hours during an event. Each exception has a date, closed or adjusted hours, and an optional note; the note is shown to pilots in the widget. Past exceptions disappear from the editor automatically but are kept for history.

Common tasks

Setting up landing fees for the first time

1. Open Settings and select the Aerodrome group.
2. Enter the landing fee amount you wish to charge.
3. Switch the landing fee active toggle to on.
4. Save your changes.
5. Verify by checking the next applicable flight to confirm the fee appears.

Temporarily suspending landing fees

1. Open Settings and select the Aerodrome group.
2. Switch the landing fee active toggle to off.
3. Save your changes.
4. The landing fee amount is preserved so you can reactivate it later without re-entering the value.

Setting up summer and winter opening hours

1. Open Settings, select the Aerodrome group and click edit next to Opening hours.
2. Rename the default season (for example "Summer") and give it a date range such as 01/04 to 31/10.
3. Set the weekly hours — fixed times, sunrise/sunset, or closed days — using copy to all to speed things up.
4. Add a second season "Winter" with the complementary range (01/11 to 31/03) and its own hours.
5. Add exceptions for public holidays, and save.

Changing the landing fee amount

1. Open Settings and select the Aerodrome group.
2. Update the numeric value in the landing fee amount field.
3. Save your changes.
4. The new amount applies to all future applicable flights from this point onward.

Good practices

• Set the landing fee amount before activating the toggle to avoid a period where flights are charged an incorrect fee.
• Inform pilots and staff before activating or changing landing fees, as the change is immediate and affects all applicable flights.
• If you need to suspend landing fees temporarily (for example, during a maintenance period), use the toggle rather than setting the amount to zero. This preserves your configured fee for easy reactivation.
• Periodically review the landing fee amount to ensure it reflects your current operational costs.
