Standardization

Standardization

Organise standardization events and sessions, assign supervisors, and track participant follow-up.

The Standardization module is where your organisation plans, records, and reviews standardization activity for flight instructors. It provides a structured way to define what types of standardization take place and to capture the details of every session that is actually conducted.

Who this module is for

Standardization is available to administrators and flight instructors. Administrators typically set up event types and oversee session records. Flight instructors use the module to view upcoming and past sessions, confirm attendance, and review their own standardization history.

Key concepts

The module is built around two distinct areas, and understanding the difference between them is essential.

  • Event types are reusable templates. They describe the kind of standardization activity your organisation conducts, such as an annual flight instructor refresher or an internal review. Event types do not have dates or participants. They exist so you can name and describe a category of activity once and then link it to any number of actual sessions.
  • Sessions are the actual standardization moments. Each session has a date, a time window, a supervisor, participants, and remarks. A session is always linked to one of your event types. This is where you record what really happened.

Keeping templates and actual sessions separate means your organisation builds a clean, searchable history. You can filter sessions by event type to see how often a particular kind of standardization takes place, who attended, and what was noted.

How standardization connects to flight instructor records

Session participation also appears on the flight instructor's record in the Relations module. When you open a relation with a flight instructor role and navigate to the FI tab, you will see the standardization sessions that person attended. This provides a consolidated view of a flight instructor's standardization history without leaving the Relations module.

Getting started

  1. Open the Standardization module from the main navigation.
  2. Begin by creating at least one event type so you have a template ready when you record your first session.
  3. Move to the sessions area to record actual standardization moments as they are planned or completed.

Where to go next

The documentation for this module is split into two pages that match the areas you see in the interface:

  • Events -- creating and managing reusable event type templates.
  • Sessions -- recording, reviewing, and tracking actual standardization sessions.

Good practice

  • Set up your event types before you start recording sessions. A consistent set of templates makes historical comparison straightforward.
  • Agree on naming conventions with your team early. If two people create similar event types with slightly different names, your session history becomes harder to read.
  • Review the sessions list periodically to confirm that all completed standardization activity has been captured and that participant lists are accurate.
  • Use the FI tab in Relations to verify that individual flight instructor records reflect the correct standardization history.
