Flight training

Training list

Use the training list and its filters to find the right student record quickly.

Last updated 2026-03-28

The training list is the main entry point of the Flight training module. It displays all training records in a single, filterable view and gives you quick access to any student's detailed training record.

What you see on this page

When you open Flight training, the training list loads first. Each row represents one student training record and shows key identifying information such as the student name, assigned course, flight instructor, and training dates.

Available filters

Use the filters at the top of the list to narrow down the records you need. The following filters are available:

  • Search -- type a student name, reference, or keyword to find a specific record. The search matches across visible fields in the list.
  • Course -- select a course to show only students enrolled in that course. Useful when reviewing progress across an entire class or course group.
  • Instructor -- select a flight instructor to show only students assigned to that flight instructor. Helpful for workload reviews or when a flight instructor needs to see all their students at a glance.
  • Start date range -- set a from-date and to-date to show only training records that started within that period. Use this to isolate recent intakes or historical cohorts.

Filters can be combined. For example, you can filter by a specific course and a specific flight instructor at the same time to see exactly which students that flight instructor is training in that course.

How to find a specific training record

  1. Open Flight training to load the training list.
  2. If you know the student's name, type it into the Search field.
  3. If you need to narrow further, apply the Course, Instructor, or Start date range filters.
  4. Click the student row to open their full training record with all tabs (Summary, Gradings, Documents, Intake & Progress).

How to review training activity by flight instructor

  1. Open the training list.
  2. Select the flight instructor from the Instructor filter.
  3. The list now shows only students assigned to that flight instructor.
  4. Optionally add a Course filter to narrow to a specific course.

How to review training activity by course

  1. Open the training list.
  2. Select the course from the Course filter.
  3. The list now shows all students enrolled in that course regardless of flight instructor.
  4. Optionally add a Start date range filter to focus on a specific intake period.

How to export the training list

  1. Apply any filters you need so the list shows the records you want to export.
  2. Click the export option.
  3. The export includes only the filtered results, not the entire unfiltered list.

This is useful for generating reports, sharing student lists with management, or creating offline backups of training status at a point in time.

Common tasks

  • Find a student quickly -- use the search field with the student's name.
  • Check all students for one flight instructor -- set the instructor filter and review the list.
  • See who started this month -- set the start date range to cover the current month.
  • Export a course roster -- filter by course, then export.

Good practices

  • Always apply the relevant filters before exporting. Exporting an unfiltered list produces a large file that may not be useful for your purpose.
  • Use the training list as the starting point to locate a record, then open the student's detailed tabbed view for actual follow-up work. The list itself is for navigation and overview, not for detailed editing.
  • If you are looking for a student and the search returns no results, double-check your spelling or try broadening your filters. The student may be enrolled under a different course or flight instructor than expected.
  • Periodically review the training list filtered by course to confirm that all expected students have active records and that no records have been overlooked.
