The Drive screen in the Pilot App gives you mobile access to your organisation's shared document library. You can browse folders, search for documents, preview files, and download them to your device.
Browsing documents
Folder navigation
Documents in Drive are organised in folders, just like on the platform:
- Open the Drive screen
- You see the top-level folder structure
- Tap a folder to open it and see its contents
- Continue tapping into subfolders to find your document
- Use the back navigation to return to the previous folder
Searching for documents
If you know the document name or part of it:
- Open the Drive screen
- Tap the search bar
- Type your search term
- The results show matching documents across all folders
- Tap a result to open it
Search matches against document names and descriptions.
Previewing documents
The app supports direct preview for many document types:
- Find the document in a folder or search results
- Tap the document to open the preview
- The document opens in a built-in viewer (PDF files use the integrated PDF viewer)
- Scroll, zoom, and navigate within the preview
Supported preview formats include PDF files and common document types. Files that cannot be previewed can still be downloaded.
Downloading documents
To save a document to your device:
- Open the document preview or find it in the list
- Use the download action
- The file is saved to your device's download location
Downloaded files are stored on your device and available offline.
What you see in Drive
The documents available in the Drive section are the same documents that appear in the Drive module on the platform. Your organisation's administrators manage the folder structure, upload documents, and control document revisions.
You see:
- Folder names and their structure
- Document names and descriptions
- Revision information — if the document has been updated, you see the current revision
Common tasks
Find the latest safety briefing document
- Open Drive
- Search for "safety" or navigate to the safety folder
- Open the document to preview it
- Check the revision to confirm it is the latest version
Download a form to fill in offline
- Navigate to the folder containing the form
- Tap the document
- Download it to your device
- Fill it in offline and return it as instructed by your organisation
Good practice
- Familiarise yourself with your organisation's folder structure so you can find documents quickly
- Use search when you know the document name — it is faster than browsing through folders
- Check the revision when viewing critical documents to make sure you have the latest version
- Download documents you need at the airfield before you lose internet connectivity
